What is WordPress?

WordPress is an open-source website provider that we use to create some of our websites.

How often should I update my website?

We suggest having a complete redesign every five years, however your website should be updated at least twice a year.

Do I need an SSL certificate?

You may have noticed the padlock in your website address bar. This is the SSL certificate and every website needs one. SSL certificates keep user data secure, verify ownership and prevent attackers from creating a fake version of your website, without it your website is vulnerable.

Is page speed important for my website?

Yes, page speed is very important for your website. If your website doesn’t load quickly you have the risk of the user bouncing back to search results because they didn’t want to wait any longer.

What does ‘mobile first’ mean?

Mobile first means that when we design websites we consider the screen size of a mobile first because it’s easier to adapt a design to a larger screen later on rather than vice versa.

What is a responsive website?

Responsive web design is where design and development should respond and work with the users behaviour and environment based on their screen size, platform and orientation. All of our websites are built to be responsive for the best user experience.

Does my website need to be accessible?

While website accessibility is great for supporting users with disabilities, it is a legal requirement under WCAG compliance standards.

What is a CMS?

CMS stands for content management system. This is where you change and add content for your website. We can provide you training on how your CMS works after we have built your website.

Do you offer website hosting?

There are various website hosting packages available, and you can read more about it here.

Do you use pre-built templates?

No, all our websites are built with custom templates.

How soon can you start a website project?

Our website projects are always tailored exactly to our clients needs and when we first chat with you we’ll be able to find out more about your requirements and advise accordingly in terms of timescales involved.  We have a tried and tested approach that we follow when it comes to website projects in order  to ensure that we achieve the best outcome for you.

How long does an average website project take?

An average project typically takes a minimum of 8-12 weeks to complete.   We’ll always discuss exact timescales with you once we understand more about the project and as part of the process we’ll build a project plan that sets out the requirements and the steps involved.


What are brand guides?

Brand guides are sort of like an instruction manual that show you how different elements of your brand should be applied. They’re also known as brand guidelines or brand style guides and they set out the rules and standards to follow so that the different elements that make up your visual identity, like your logo, colour schemes, fonts etc are always used consistently and correctly – internally and externally.  They’re an essential toolkit for any business that wants to build awareness and recognition and maintain professionalism across every touchpoint.

How much does logo design cost?

We always tailor our work exactly to a client’s requirements and objectives and will be very happy to provide you with an exact quote for a logo design.  Our logo design services start from £300, full branding packages have a starting price from £1500.

As well as designing your primary logo, we can also provide the different variations that may be required to suit your business needs.  For example your logo will no doubt be used on multiple applications such as your website, signage, on stationery and on various social media channels.  Space available for your logo and background colour all can affect how your logo looks and different logo variations ensure your brand always stands out and looks its best!   

It may be that you feel your logo just needs a bit of a refresh.  Sometimes a few tweaks, maybe font type, colour etc by a design expert can make a big difference.  If you don’t want a logo designed from scratch but want to give it a bit of a makeover – we can help with that too. 


What is Shopify?

Shopify is a very popular platform that enables you to build an online ecommerce business.  With Shopify you’ll be able to sell products and accept payments online on your website.

What is WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is an ecommerce platform that, like Shopify, is a popular means of establishing and growing your online business, enabling you to sell and take payments online.

What is a payment gateway?

Any business that wants to sell and take payments online needs a payment gateway.  Essentially it moves the payment data around to enable card payments to be authorised and retailers to get paid.  When choosing a payment gateway you’ll want to think about things such as competitive rates, security & fraud protection, the payment methods you want to accept and whether you want to take payments from other countries. Some platforms such as Shopify may automatically include a payment gateway.

We can work with any payment gateway of your choice. If you are not sure who to choose we can go through different options with you to help you pick the right one for your needs.

Can I pay by credit/ debit card?

We will always provide you with an invoice for the work we’ve undertaken and we ask that you pay us via bank transfer please as we do not accept payment by credit or debit cards. However we do offer the option to pay by PayPal.  Please talk to us if you have any concerns at all regarding payments.

Can you provide stock imagery?

Unfortunately most stock image providers no longer allow us to buy and resell image to our clients. However, we can help you find the right images for you to purchase.

Do you offer copywriting services?

Yes, we offer a full range of copywriting services, whether it’s for your website, social media content, blogs, marketing collateral or indeed any other company documents.  A copywriter is a specialist skill and by using one you’ll benefit from copy that is clear, concise and engages the reader.

Are you ok with signing a NDA?

Yes, we understand that when working with clients signing a NDA may be necessary.  We are very happy to do so.    

Is your team in-house only?

Our team is made up of in-house specialists from designers, developers, project managers and SEO experts.  On top of this we add additional expertise from consultants that we work with on a long term basis and who form an integral part of our team where required.

Where are you based?

We have offices in Coventry and Manchester, however we have clients nationwide and are happy to arrange online meetings or travel.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes, there are many ways in which we can help your business on an ongoing basis and we can do as little or as much as required.  Some of our clients have in-house marketing teams and need some support with certain elements from time to time and other clients prefer to use our team to manage tasks such as content and image updates.

What does ‘organic ranking’ mean?

Organic ranking is where search engines such as Google decide where your site should rank. Your rankings depend on factors such as your website health, content and keywords.

What are keywords?

Keywords are what you should use in your copywriting and blogs. Google uses your keywords to help decide on your ranking. For example if you were to use ‘website design’ in your copy then you have the chance to rank for that specific keyword if someone were to search for it.

Do you manage Google Ad campaigns?

We do offer a service where we can manage your Google Ads as well as set up your Ads. This can include keyword research and budget set up.

What are backlinks?

Backlinks are links which come from another website such as new articles mentioning your business and linking to your website. You need to collect backlinks that are trustworthy.  We can help you with a backlink strategy to work on getting the best possible backlinks.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of improving the site in areas such as technical aspects and on-page content. SEO has the ability to improve your site health and performance, while increasing your chances of visibility.
